ADI Part 2 Training and Examination

Part 2 Exam:

The second exam consists of two tests - eyesight and driving technique.

For the eyesight test, you must be able to read a car number plate at a distance of 27.5 metres, where the letters and numbers are 79mm in height and 57mm wide, or 26.5 metres, where the letters and numbers are 79mm in height and 50mm wide (with glasses or contact lenses if you wear them). If you do not pass the eyesight test, you will not be allowed to take the driving technique test.

You will then be asked questions on basic vehicle safety based on a 'Show Me/Tell Me' format.

The test of driving ability is an advanced test and requires a very high standard of competence. Throughout this exam, the Supervising Examiner (SE) will be watching how you control the vehicle and deal with other road users and how you deal with hazards as they arise. The routes used for the test will cover varying road and traffic conditions, covering both urban and rural roads and, where possible, motorways or dual carriageways

This exam lasts about one hour, and to pass you must receive no more than six minor errors.

You may only attempt this examination 3 times.
